Penguin Books was founded in 1979 by President Yen-Ching Yeh. Initially, the company focused on publishing supplementary textbooks for elementary school subjects. Later, it expanded its publishing scope to include children's reading materials, transforming into a professional children's publishing company. Today, Penguin Books has been dedicated to children's literature for 36 years.
Business Philosophy and Goals
Founder Yen-Ching Yeh has devoted significant effort to the company, holding firm to the belief, "Creating performance together; sharing profits." This principle is applied both towards his clients and his colleagues.
For thirty-six years, Penguin has meticulously planned every publication, from topic selection and editing to the finished book. Our dream is for children worldwide to read Penguin books. We aim to present the best to our readers, which is our ultimate goal.
To expand our market, we actively participate in book fairs in Taipei, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Mainland China, South Korea, Thailand, Germany, the United States, Italy, and more.
In 1990, Penguin entered the Hong Kong children's book market. Three years later, we began selling in Singapore, Malaysia, and Mainland China. We are proud of the growth of our overseas markets, including simplified Chinese, English, Italian, Korean, and Greek editions across Europe, America, and Asia. In the Chinese-speaking regions, our market share of children's books has been rising yearly, making Penguin Books a prominent name.
Despite our success, we remain humble and diligently manage each market. We cherish our past achievements and strive to fulfill our dream of making Taiwan's Penguin Books visible to the world.
Diligence and Facing Challenges
From 1996 to 1998, for three consecutive years, Penguin was commissioned by Taiwan's Government Information Office to organize the "Taiwan Pavilion" at the Bologna Children's Book Fair in Italy and the BEA Book Fair in the USA. These experiences are precious and honorable for us.
Our dedication and hard work have paved the way for our presence on the international stage. Through this, we have made many friends in international publishing and learned valuable business insights. With market development comes competition and challenges, both domestically and internationally. Thus, we carefully take every step and work harder each year, aspiring to have another thirty-six years of success.
